Currently ICDL exams using Ubuntu, Open Office, and FOSS are only available in South Africa.
Most ICDL ATC's (Authorised Testsing Centre's) do not currently have the ability to test Ubuntu, Open Office, or Firefox.
This is something we hope changes by 2010, and we are constantly requesting ICDL themselves do something about this (as are many other education providers around the world).
Currently ICDL promotes the use of Microsoft products by making testing available for these products only.
You might like to consider emailing the ECDL Foundation and adding your voice to the many others who are asking the ECDL Foundation to support free and open source software. You can do this by using this form.
When Candidates register to start the ECDL / ICDL certification process they purchase a Skills Card on which their progress through the seven tests is recorded. Skills Cards may be purchased from any approved Test Centre. Only an approved Test Centre can carry out testing and issue Skills Cards. [www.ecdl.org]
