Contributors

We are actively seeking some talented people to help develop OpenICDL in Moodle.

You need to following skills:
  • Familiar with ICDL/ECDL Syllabus 5
This means you are teaching (or have recently delivered) ICDL/ECDL Syllabus 4 or Syllabus 5

  • You will have great existing internet skills.

  • Experience with Moodle
This means you have created courses in Moodle.
It also means you have managed and facilitated courses in Moodle.
You have supported real learners online in Moodle.

  • You understand and can create Moodle Lessons and Quizzes.

  • You have good graphic design skills.
This is not critical as guidance can be given.
However, you should understand what optimising a graphic means and the difference between a .bmp and .png(!) because course resources and activities here must work well on low bandwidth connections.

  • You have great communication skills.
This means you can operate as part of a team.
    Enthusiasm ia a must.
But so is a high standard of written English.
Working on your own, but within a team, create challenges - both technical and personal.
Contributing to OpenICDL in Moodle requires you to adhere to quality standards.
(You may well help develop these!)

Wherever possible resources will be created using standard Moodle functionality.
This is to ensure OpenICDL in Moodle modules can be restored to other Moodle servers.
  • Any audio content should be produced in Audacity - exitsing knowledge of this is useful.
  • Any movie content should be produced in Camtasia - existing knowledge of this is useful.

Benefits for contributors

Although no payment is made to contributors, there are two opportunities:
  1. Your name will be featured as a OpenICDL in Moodle contributor (great for your CV!)

  2. Conributors to OpenICDL in Moodle will have unrestricted access to all modules.

If you are a teacher, you will be able to use these materials freely with your students.
If you are a private trainer, you could use these modules and charge students, or organisations.

  3. As this project develops there may be opportunities for online facilitators for example, and contributors will always have first option on work this may generate.
